Tomasz Płudowski
Tomasz Płudowski
Dr. Tomasz Płudowski, Editor-in-chief of the Polish edition of Global Media Journal, published online by the Collegium Civitas of Warsaw and Purdue University Calumet, and writes about the news media and political communication. He is on the faculty of the Collegium Civitas of Warsaw and Jan Kochanowski University. He also teaches in the Institute of Journalism of the Jagiellonian University.
Over the years he has been a Fulbright Senior Visiting Scholar in the Department of Communication at Stanford University (2006/7), a Kościuszko Foundation visiting scholar at New York University (1997/8), a visiting professor at the Maastricht Center for Transatlantic Studies (2004), and assistant professor at several Polish universities.
His research interests focus on political campaigns, American politics, and international media. In 2005 he co-organized an international conference entitled: MediaCom: The Media and International Communication. A selection of papers was published by Peter Lang Verlag (Frankfurt am Main) under the same title. Dr. Płudowski’s publications include 7 edited books (including, most recently, How the World’s News Media Reacted to 9/11, Marquette Books, 2007, and a three-volume textbook Ameryka. Społeczeństwo. Kultura. Polityka, WAM, 2008), a monograph on Komunikacja polityczna w amerykańskich kampaniach wyborczych (PWN, 2008), and over two dozen articles published in the U.S., Germany, U.K. and Poland.
He serves as a U.S. politics commentator for local, national, and international media, and Polish news agencies.
