Dr. Christoph von Marschall
Dr. Christoph von Marschall (born 1959 in Freiburg, Germany) has been lead opinion editor at Der Tagesspiegel since 1995. He is presently working as a US Correspondent in Washington. He also worked at the Süddeutsche Zeitung in Munich as a correspondent in Hungary from 1989 to 1990. He studied East European History and Political Science in Freiburg, Mainz, and Krakau, and obtained his doctorate in 1988. He was awarded a Kellen Fellowship in 1999 that enabled him to spend one month each working at The New Republic and The Wisconsin State Journal. In 2002, he received the German-American Commentary Award of the Foreign Office for a commentary post related to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. His 2007 book about then-candidate Barack Obama received much attention.
