Professor Clyde Wilcox of the Department of Government, Georgetown University

Prof. Wilcox is coming to Poland at the invitation of the U.S. Consulate in Kraków and the U.S. Embassy. In Kraków he will be one of the speakers at the international conference: “Religion in the Public Sphere” organized by the Consulate and the Tischner University and will talk about religion and politics in the U.S.
On December 8 in Gdańsk Prof. Wilcox will lecture at the Gdansk University, Institute of English and the Naval Academy in Gdynia. In Warsaw he will meet with foreign affairs experts at the meeting organized by the Polish Institute of Foreign Affairs (Dec. 9 at 10:00, ul. Warecka 1a) and will be speaking on "Ethnic groups and lobbying in America: how do they get their say and how do they get what they want?" At 17:15 he will also meet with the students of the University of Warsaw at the Center for Europe, al. Niepodległości 22.

Professor Wilcox writes on public opinion and electoral behavior, religion and politics, gender politics, the politics of social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and gun control, interest group politics, campaign finance, and science fiction and politics. He has authored, coauthored, edited, or co-edited more than 20 books. His most recent include The Politics of Gay Rights, Prayers in the Precincts: The Christian Right in the 1998 Elections, The Clinton Scandal and the Future of American Government, Political Science Fiction, and Women in Elected Office, Past, Present, and Future. Prior to joining the Georgetown faculty, Professor Wilcox worked at the Federal Election Commission and taught at Union College.
