Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley visited Warsaw, October 16-18, 2005, in order to further promote the Warsaw-Chicago sister cities relationship. Ambassador Ashe accompanied the Mayor while he met with Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Warsaw Mayor and presidential candidate Lech Kaczynski, and when Mayor Daley spoke to over 200 Polish business leaders at a reception organized by the Warsaw Sister Cities Committee. Poland’s American Chamber of Commerce organized a lunch for Mayor Daley with representatives from prominent US businesses in Poland as well. Mayor Daley also spoke to over 100 Polish law enforcement officials and journalists on current trends in police force modernization and the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS) program at Warsaw’s City Hall.
