On November 18, the Departments of State and Justice’s Law and Democracy program concluded a week-long seminar with 16 high level Polish police officials in Legionowo, Poland. The topic of this seminar was Strategic Planning and Media Relations; the two American trainers were Michael Downing, Commander of the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau, and Keith Bridges, Public Affairs manager of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Both Downing and Bridges praised the Polish police for their openness and cooperation and look forward to future visits. Polish participants were enthusiastic about the material and looked forward to returning to their various regional police departments and sharing what they learned.
