On June 9th, 2005, „One Passion, Two Visions,” an exhibit showcasing the work of American photographer David Michael Kennedy and Polish photographer Tomek Niewiadomski, opened at Centrum Artystyczny Fabryka Trzciny. The exhibit, which opened in partnership with the US Embassy can be seen through June 28.
The Honorary Committee of the event includes the Hon. Victor Ashe, the US Ambassador to Poland, as well as Jerzy Koźmiński, President of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation; Sławomir Sikora, Chairman of the Board of Citibank Handlowy; and Wojciech Trzciński of Fabryka Trzciny. Kennedy, who completed a long and award-winning career as a photographer in the worlds of advertising, journalism, and fashion before turning to artistic work, is noted for his work portraying various celebrities as well as ordinary Americans. His unique method utilizes the platinum-palladium technique of photography, which is extremely time-consuming, requiring anywhere from days to months to develop a single photograph.
Tomek Niewiadomski, his student, is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Sydney and organized the joint exhibit at Fabryka Trzciny. The exhibit will also be showcased in Szczecinek as part of the US Embassy's America Days Festival July 7-10.
