On Monday, July 4, 2005 Ambassador Victor Ashe participated in ceremonies at the Chelm Higher School of Education (Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa) in which he was inducted as an Honorary Member of the Senate. He was the first ever honorary inductee into the university senate.
Ambassador Ashe spoke to the assembled students and faculty and took part in bestowing diplomas to the new graduates of the Institutes of Mathematics and Information Technology and the Institute of Modern Linguistics.
The ceremonies also offered the Ambassador and guests an opportunity to continue the celebrations of American Independence that had begun the week prior with Embassy celebrations in Poznan, Lancut, Krakow and Warsaw.
