Richard Rorvig is the Counselor for Economic Affairs at the US Embassy in Warsaw, a position he assumed in August 2003. He has been a career member of the US Foreign Service since 1982.
Previously, Richard Rorvig served as the Counselor for Global Affairs at the US Embassy in Bonn/Berlin from 1997-2002, where he was responsible for science, technology, and legal issues. Other overseas assignments include Bucharest (1994-97), Madrid (1989-93), Bonn (1985-87), and La Paz, Bolivia (1983-85). From 1987-89, he was responsible for trade issues at the State Department’s Office of Chinese Affairs.
Richard Rorvig was born in Munich, Germany in 1953. He received a BA in Economics from Princeton University in New Jersey in 1977, and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Columbia University in New York City in 1982. He also studied German and Archaeology at the University of Freiburg in Germany (1974-75). Prior to joining the Foreign Service, he worked as a research assistant for the Korea Development Institute in Seoul, Korea (1977-79).
Richard Rorvig is married to the former Marie Louise Novotny and has two children.
