On December 15, as part of the Mission Speaker’s Bureau, Deputy Press Attaché Edward Monster traveled to Goniadz, Poland to attend an “Invite the World” English language competition organized by 6 local primary schools. Each school’s team was assigned an English speaking country for which they presented a sample of the country’s cuisine, music, and art. The team representing the United States cooked a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner, performed to the tune of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm,” and painted a mural of the Statue of Liberty. Mr. Monster, the only foreign embassy representative in attendance, delivered brief remarks encouraging the students to continue their English language study and to consider visiting the U.S. He also distributed English language instructional materials and American flag design pens and key chains to the students.
