The Federal Bureau of Investigation on November 30 announced the extradition of a Polish man who had been living in the U.S. following his escape from a Polish prison in 1991.

The suspect, identified as Emil F., had been serving a 25-year prison term in Poland following a murder and assault conviction.

Working with FBI agents in Texas, the Legal Attache's office in the Embassy helped wrap up the three-month investigation.

Information from Poland's Interpol was key to leading agents to the fugitive in Amarillo, Texas, where he was arrested.

"Once again, the FBI is pleased to have assisted in the location of a Polish fugitive," said Assistant Legal Attaché Henrique Sumyk. "We consider this to be another example of our close cooperation with Polish authorities."
