Flooding Situation in Poland
 

Warden Message May 20, 2010

The U.S. Embassy Warsaw is sending this warden message to advise U.S. citizens living and traveling in Poland of some new country-specific information. 

The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw is continuously monitoring the situation in relation to flooding in Poland. The Polish media have indicated this flooding is causing difficulties with road and rail transport, and some roads and bridges have been closed. The Polish Government has discouraged traveling unnecessarily in areas affected or threatened by flooding. The Embassy encourages American citizens residing or traveling in Poland to stay current with information on flooding in your area.

The U.S. Embassy remains open to the public during normal business hours, i.e. Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., excluding Polish and American holidays and the last working Friday of each month.  Afternoon appointments can also be scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Embassy Duty Officer can be contacted afterhours at 22 504 2000, in the event of emergencies only.
