Poland has recently been granted a direct allocation of $175,000 for the fiscal year 2006 under the Counter-Terrorism Fellowship Program (CTFP). The funds, to be administered through the Embassy’s Office of Defense Cooperation, are expected to be used for Polish participation in regional workshops, seminars and training courses, including those designed for Special Operations units, as well as for joint training of Polish “first responder” teams with their U.S. counterparts.
The CTFP enables the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to help key allies cooperate in the fight against terrorism by providing money to educate and train foreign military and civilian security personnel.
This is just one of the DoD contributions to U.S.-Poland collaboration coordinated by the Joint Counter-Terrorism Working Group under the U.S. Embassy’s auspices.
