Villanova Professor Hibba Abugideiri visited Poland March 21-24 as part of the Embassy’s program to explain Islam in America and the role of American Muslim Women in US Society. Ms. Abugideiri’s speaking engagements were overflowing with enthusiastic crowds who seized the opportunity to meet, for the first time, an expert in American Islam and gender issues. In Warsaw, she spoke at the Oriental Studies Department of Warsaw University, the prestigious Warsaw Economics and Trade School, to the women’s activist group "Feminoteka," and to international high school students at the American School in Warsaw. Ms. Abugideiri also gave a presentation at the US Embassy as part of the embassy’s "America Presents" program and to members of the diplomatic corps at a coffee hosted at the Ambassador’s residence by Mrs. Joan Ashe.
