The Embassy in Warsaw is announcing a training program in the United States for five Polish educators who teach about the Holocaust. The week-long seminar will be conducted between June 4 – August 21, 2006, and is organized by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Association of Holocaust Organizations in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State. The exact dates of the training will be announced later. The Embassy in Warsaw will cover costs of participation in the program.
The seminar is an opportunity for educators to become familiarized with methods of teaching about the Holocaust, exchange experiences with educators in the United States. The course will also focus on Judaism - its history, culture, history of anti-Semitism. The program includes a visit to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., where participants will meet with the staff dedicated to remembrance and other related topics.
Eligible applicants should be teachers of junior or senior high schools who cover topics related to the Holocaust in their classes. Excellent English language skills are required.
