How To Assemble Documents Prior To Interview With Consular Officer
In order to improve visa processing, all the documents provided by an applicant have to be prepared and assembled as described below. Please put the documents in the required sequence before the interview.
Passport

Passports of all applicants should be put together and passed to the clerk without covers of any kind.

Photos
|
Each applicant must submit two full-face photos with his/her first name and surname on the back of the picture. Please find attached list of the photo requirements.

Documents
|
PLEASE PUT THE DOCUMENTS IN THE ORDER PRESENTED BELOW.
Make sure they are all taken out of plastic covers and sleeves. If you want your originals to be returned to you, please provide photocopies as well. A consular officer will check the originals and keep the copy.

- For immigrants: form DS-230 Part I and II
- For K visa: form DS-156 in duplicate and one copy of DS-156K
- High school diploma (applies to DV applicants only)
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
- Death Certificate for spouse (if applicable)
- Divorce Decree (if applicable)
- For K visas and employment based petitions: Form I-134 (short version of Affidavit of Support)
- Police Certificate (if applicable) and court convictions (if any)

Medical Examinations

The results of medical examinations have to be submitted in the original envelope. Please do not open the envelope.

Financial Documents
|
- For family-based and certain employment-based immigrant visas (if applicable):
- I-864 Affidavit of Support (personally signed by the sponsor. Pages should be put together in numerical order).
- I-864A Supplemental Affidavit of Support.
- Federal Income Tax Return for the last year, from the sponsor.
- Additional documents confirming the fact that the sponsor is employed, bank statements, etc.
- For DV applicants:
- Form I-134 and/or job offer and/or documents related to the financial situation of an applicant.
Provided they are all mentioned on the I-864 form, the family members going to the US together may submit only one set of the financial documents.
