Position: Student Intern in the Foreign Agricultural Service Section
Opening Date: April 2, 2008
Closing Date: April 2, 2008
Work Hours: Negotiable, 6-8 preferred
Days Per Week: Negotiable, min 3 days
Duration: 8-12 weeks
Note: All applicants must be of Polish citizenship and meet the required definition of student as provided in the application materials to be eligible for consideration.
The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw is seeking an individual for the position of Student Intern in the Foreign Agricultural Service Section of the Embassy.
Major Duties or Projects:
• Help the office to develop an outreach program to the public that explains American policies related to the WTO Doha Round trade negotiations, genetically-modified foods, and US-EU trade relations
• Assist to develop a website, including preparing content and organizing computer files, updating a database of importer contacts, drafting reports,
English/Polish translations and administrative duties
• Participate in all office functions during their term include trade seminars, visits by U.S. delegations, and diplomatic receptions or functions
Qualifications Required
• Good Computer skills with Microsoft Office and/or some background with website would be desirable
• To operate effectively, experience in time management and an appreciation for deadlines is needed
• Fluent English and Polish
• Ability to undertake self management of assignments and work quickly
• Knowledge of business, economics, or agriculture
• Interest in international trade issues and some basic knowledge of the structure and function of the European Union.
