Ambassador Ashe Welcomes New Commercial Counselor

Ambassador Ashe welcomed new Commercial Counselor John McCaslin on August 10. They discussed ways that Embassy Commercial Service office can assist U.S. businesses and fostering commercial relations with Poland – one of the U.S.' key markets in Central Europe. John replaces Commercial Counselor Edgar Fulton who passed away late last year. Commercial Attaché David McNeill, who has filled in temporarily since Mr. Fulton's death, will remain as Mr. McCaslin's Deputy.
Mr. McCaslin has a long history with the Commercial Service, serving as Assistant Commercial Counselor in Moscow 2001 - 2005 and as Commercial Consul in Munich 1997 - 2001. Mr. McCaslin has served previous assignments with both the U.S. Departments of Commerce and State in the U.S. and overseas since he began his government career in international commerce in 1985. John speaks Polish, German, Russian and Korean. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. McCaslin is married to Constance Plattenburg and they have three sons. During his tour in Warsaw, John will reside in Wilanow.
