President Bush hosted Polish President Lech Kaczyński at the White House on February 9, 2006. President Kaczyński is making his first visit to the White House since he assumed the Presidency of Poland on December 23, 2005. President Bush stated after the meeting that “The President of Poland comes to a country that respects Poland...it’s amazing to be sitting with somebody who knows the difference between living in a society that is not independent, and not free…and now he is the President of a free country. I thanked the President and the Polish people for their support of the democracy movement in Iraq.”
