The Embassy is pleased to sponsor a concert by world-renowned Tehran-born American guitarist Lily Afshar who will present a recital of contemporary music. Dr. Afshar, a solo international guitar player who holds 3 music degrees will perform November 11 at the Muzeum Techniki in Warsaw at 5 pm.
According to The Washington Post, “her playing showed remarkable consistency in terms of musicality, finesse and thoughtfulness, a combination that escapes many performers except on the best nights.”
Dr. Afshar won the 2000 Orville H. Gibson Award for Best Female Classical Guitarist and was named “Artistic Ambassador” to Africa by the United States Information Agency. Dr.Afshar performs all over the world.
After her performance in Warsaw, Dr. Afshar will perform at the VI Gliwice International Guitar Fesitval in Poland two days later.
