A representative from the Polish Embassy in Washington participated as an observer in the Methane to Markets Partnership Summit, November 15-17 in Washington.
Representatives from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, Ukraine and the United Kingdom all signed a Terms of Reference document formally creating the Partnership.
This new global initiative hopes to reduce net methane emissions by 50 million metric tons of carbon equivalent by 2015 - the rough equivalent of removing 33 million cars from roads for one year.
Poland is one of the 14 countries invited to join this new international partnership.
