Muslim League of Poland participates in Muslim Life in America program

6 February 2006

In cooperation with The Muslim League of Poland, Embassy Warsaw organized a “Muslim Life in America” presentation on Jan 31 for an audience consisting of Muslim immigrants, converts, community leaders, and students living in Poland. Ambassador Ashe greeted the group and stressed “Americans of all faiths continue to learn more about their Muslim brothers and sisters, and the more we learn, the more we realize the values that we have in common.” Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, B. Bix Aliu, gave a presentation on Muslim Life in America and answered questions regarding the overall treatment of Muslims in the US, what the aftermath of 9/11 was like for American Muslims, and the role of American Muslims in US politics and the public sector. The group was very pleased to be given the opportunity to meet Ambassador Ashe and appreciated the Ambassador’s willingness and dedication to reach out to all the religious communities in the country. The group expressed their happiness that the presentation helped to clarify many of the misperceptions that they had about US attitudes towards Islam.
