On November 2nd, 2009, an aircrew from the 37th Airlift Squadron at Ramstein Air Force Base delivered the C-130E Hercules, tail number 1299, to the Polish Air Force’s 14th Airlift Squadron at Powidz Air Base.  The aircraft was greeted in Warsaw by representatives of both the Polish Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Embassy, as well as a contingent of the Polish media.

While in Poland, the aircraft will bear the Polish tail number of 1506, as well as the red and white insignia displayed on Polish military aircraft.  The aircraft is on loan to the Polish Air Force for 11 months, and will assist in the continuation of training for Polish Air Force aircrew.   Under a $120M grant from the U.S. Foreign Military Financing Program, the Polish Air Force will receive a total of 5 modernized, refurbished C-130E aircraft, as well as training for aircrew and ground support personnel.
