Members of U.S. Congress Hold Media Availability

9 October 2003

A group of five Republican and Democratic members of Congress will hold a news conference at the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting sponsored by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) now underway in Warsaw. Attending will be:

  • Christopher Smith (Democrat, New Jersey)
  • Joe Pitts (Republican, Pennsylvania)
  • Benjamin Cardin (Democrat, Maryland)
  • Jo Ann Davis (Republican, Virginia)

The Congressmen will have just attended the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Seminar in Rome on Freedom of Religion, as well as a PA session on the relationship between the OSCE and its Mediterranean partners. At the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting, they will discuss issues concerning Anti-Semitism and Belarus. Congressman Smith served as the Vice-Chairman of the U.S. Delegation to the OSCE Anti-Semitism Conference held in Warsaw in June and will be following up on those discussions. In addition, the Congressmen will brief the media on their meetings with officials from the Polish government.
