Barbara Michalska retired on February 28, 2006 after 47 years of outstanding service in the Consular Section. She was presented with a Superior Honor Award by Consular Affairs Bureau Assistant Secretary Maura Harty and was awarded the Secretary of State's Distinguished Career Service Award by Ambassador Ashe in recognition of her work. Ms. Michalska will always be remembered by scores of Polish and American colleagues she has worked with over the years for her efforts to further U.S.-Polish relations and her personal graciousness and integrity.
