On June 30, PAS organized special Meet America Program briefings for a group of 30 U.S. and Canadian students, teachers, NGO activists, journalists and business representatives who visited Poland at the invitation of the Polish Senate within the School of Leaders Association pilot program "School of Polish-American leaders". The guests are members of Polish Diaspora who participated in workshops on issues of bilateral interest with their Canadian and Polish counterparts.
Welcomed by Deputy Cultural Attaché Candace Faber, the group listened to briefings by the Political, Cultural and Economic sections. Political Officer Duncan Walker spoke to the group about U.S.-Polish cooperation in foreign policy. Economic Officer Thomas Palaia briefed the guests about the current financial crisis and how it can affect current Polish-American economic cooperation. Deputy Cultural Attaché Candace Faber wrapped up the whole program by presenting to the group the role the U.S. Embassy has for Polish-American diplomatic relations and how cultural diplomacy is exercised to enhance those.
The program gave the leaders- to –be an opportunity to ask questions about different aspects of U.S. diplomacy and foreign service.
