Twenty-nine members of the 333rd Military Police (MP) Company from the Illinois Army National Guard recently spent two weeks in Poland exchanging information with Polish soldiers from both the 1st Mechanized Division and the 12th Mechanized Division who are deploying to Iraq in 2005 and 2006.

The U.S. Army unit recently returned from a 15-month tour of duty in Iraq. This information exchange was conducted at a Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) site in the Wędrzyn Training Area in northwest Poland.

The information exchange concentrated on four Military Police skills: cordon & search, convoy security, crowd & riot control, and how to operate a static and hasty checkpoint.

The Illinois Army National Guard has a State Partnership Program with Poland. This is the fourth peacekeeping operation to take place between the Illinois troops and more than 1000 Polish soldiers deploying for service in Iraq.
