Processing of Diversity Immigrant Visas

How do I find out if I won? Notification and Next Steps.

From July 15, 2011, through June 30, 2012, all entrants may check the status of their DV entry on-line through the Entrant Status Check on the E-DV website www.dvlottery.state.gov. Entrants will need to use the information they received from their confirmation pages saved at the time of entry. Entrant Status Check is the ONLY means of informing you if your entry for DV-2012 was selected or not.

The Entrant Status Check also provides instructions on how to proceed with your application, and notifies you of your appointment for immigrant visa interview, so it is essential that you retain your confirmation number. Please note that the Kentucky Consular Center does not mail letters or send e-mails confirming that applicants were selected and the American Embassy does not have a list of winners.

If you have been selected for further processing in the Diversity Visa program, after you receive instructions, you will need to demonstrate you are eligible for a diversity immigrant visa by successfully completing the next steps. You should carefully and promptly follow the instructions. When requested to do so by the Kentucky Consular Center, you will need to complete the immigrant visa applications. The sooner you complete them and send them back to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) the greater chances you have for an earlier visa interview.

Form DSP-122 Supplemental Registration for the Diversity Visa Program - to be completed by the registered lottery participant; not by his/her family members.

Form DS-230 Part I Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration - Biographic Data - to be completed by both the registered lottery participant and his/her immediate family members.

Form DS-230 Part II Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration - Sworn Statement - to be completed by both the registered lottery participant and his/her immediate family members. Please do not sign this form. It must be signed only at the time of your formal visa interview.

Please note that selected applicants will have to pay all diversity and immigrant visa fees in person only at the U.S. Embassy at the time of the visa interview.

What documents will I need for my visa interview?

At the time of your visa interview you will be required to provide the documents listed here (originals and copies with translations into English).

Important: These documents must not be mailed to either the KCC or the Embassy. You will be required to furnish the documents on the day of your visa interview.

When is my interview at the Embassy?

After all of your forms have been received and approved by the Kentucky Consular Center, based on visa availability, you may receive an interview appointment letter indicating the date, time, and location of your visa interview. You will be able to print the invitation with the date and time of your visa interview at the Embassy from your Entrant Status Check page. Detailed information on the medical examination is available on our website. DV-2012 visa processing must be completed and visas issued to all eligible family members on or before September 30, 2012.
