Collegium Gostomianum Students from Sandomierz Meet America

As part of Meet America program, two groups of high schools students from Collegium Gostomianum in Sandomierz visited the Embassy on October 20 and October 24. The students were greeted by the Deputy Chief of Mission Kenneth Hillas who also briefed them on U.S. Embassy Warsaw activities and U.S.-Polish relations. ACAO Hilary Renner spoke to both groups on education and student exchange opportunities in the U.S. She outlined the condition of U.S. education providing the students with current statistics and emphasized multicultural nature of university admission process and student life. She also stressed advantages of the Work and Travel program as an opportunity to not only learn about U.S. culture and the social mosaic of the country but also to master English. October 20th, 2006, Press Attaché Andrew Schilling gave a short lecture on freedom of press. Scott Renner, Chief of the American Citizens Services, spoke about his life as a diplomat.

On October 24th, Information Resource Officer Laura Kaspari Hohmann spoke about U.S. schools and libraries of the future presenting to the students highly-developed and technologically advanced schools in the U.S. Also, Assistant Information Officer Edward Monster talked about the Embassy website and explained visa procedures for student visas.
