Speakers Bureau

Embassy Warsaw Promotes Role of Independent Media

As part of the Embassy’s Speakers Bureau Program, AIO Chase Beamer spoke on the role of the media in U.S. elections to two separate audiences in the south-eastern Polish city of Chelm on December 9th.  The AIO addressed over three hundred students in the language philology department of the Chelm technical and trade school and a small group of twenty at the Chelm teachers’ training college.  The audiences were largely university aged students keen to explore differences in U.S. and Polish media and practice their English with questions ranging from polling preferences to current bilateral issues.

Once again the Embassy’s Speakers Bureau Program demonstrates the effectiveness of getting out and putting real faces to U.S. foreign policy.  The AIO had to break from questioning at the technical and trade school after forty-five minutes of Q and A in order to keep his second engagement.  Both the Rector of the trade school and the director of the teachers’ training college welcomed future Embassy speakers and inquired about English language resources.
