Warsaw IO Jim Bond delivered remarks on March 22 at the Chelchy regional school, near Elk in the Mazurian lakes district of northeast Poland, in support of the “Youth Against Corruption “ program. As a follow-up to the anti-corruption curriculum development project funded by a grant from the State Department and organized through the Center for Citizenship Education, the Embassy is sending speakers to all of the Polish primary and secondary schools which participated in this program. At the school, students from all grades performed skits demonstrating ways that students deal with corruption and song and dance routines. The local “starostwo” or county government also attended the program.
Embassy Warsaw’s Speakers Bureau provides a venue for sharing information on US society and values and engaging a youth audience that would not otherwise have direct contact with US officials. Hopefully, this anti-corruption speaking program will help the students to see the importance of continuing their local-level anti-corruption projects in the future.
