DCM Hillas Addresses Regional Security Issues at the National School of Public Administration

On March 28, DCM Kenneth Hillas spoke about regional stability issues with first year students at the National School of Public Administration as part of the Embassy’s Speakers Bureau Program. The National School of Public Administration serves as a graduate school for the best and brightest Polish students who after graduating enter governmental service. DCM Hillas discussed the future agenda of U.S. foreign policy on how to manage relations with rising powers such as China and India and also with NATO and the European Union. He discussed the strategic partnership of the U.S. and Poland and the common goals and interests the two countries share in advancing regional stability and democracy in Iraq. He also described how that the prospects of NATO and EU membership for many nations is a great incentive to resolve differences and contribute to common solutions. Showing how highly informed these students are in areas of foreign policy, the students asked the DCM detailed questions about Russia, Iran, and the role of the U.S. in the UN Security Council.

By speaking to university students, Embassy Warsaw is able to reach the segment of the population important in creating a positive image of America abroad. Events such as this also effectively engage young people who will become the leaders of tomorrow and makes them think about how the U.S. government develops foreign policy objectives and how this will impact future relations with Poland.
