Embassy Warsaw Presents the American Family in Lublin

As part of the Embassy’s Speakers Bureau Program, Vice Consul Justin Heung, spoke on the U.S. education system to a group of 50 students from Private High School Number 23 in Lublin. He gave a second presentation on the American Family to a group of 35 students at the Teacher Training College in Lublin on April 26th. Heung presented detailed presentations describing the educational system in the US and the historical and present development of the U.S. family structure. The subject of US education was particularly interesting for the group of high school students as two were planning to study in the US. Heung portrayed the American family from a perspective of an immigrant family from Honk Kong. Students asked Heung many questions because their slightly inaccurate opinion about American families seemed to be shaped mostly by television and press.

This was an excellent opportunity to present US society and values and educational issues to youth audiences. The students were engaged and asked the Vice Consul many questions. Embassy Warsaw’s Speakers Bureau provides a venue for sharing information on US society and values with an audience that would not otherwise have direct contact with US officials.
