Embassy Warsaw Teaches Bialystok Students about Computer Science

On January 25, IPO Todd Lowder addressed two groups of students in Bialystok as part of the Embassy Warsaw’s Speakers Bureau Program. Lowder first spoke about search engines and computer science before approximately 30 students at the Institute of Information Technology of Bialystok University. Following his speech, Lowder answered a variety of questions from students on computer science related topics. Later, he spoke to approximately 40 students at the Teacher Training College in Bialystok on American culture, which was followed by a series of complex questions.

This was a great event for students to practice their English skills by asking questions about US traditions, education, sports, and politics. This first-hand contact was an invaluable experience for future teachers of English, who are exposed only to British English not American English. Through the Embassy Speakers Bureau Program, the Embassy continues to effectively promote US culture and values to young audiences.
