On September 29th, 2006, as part of the Embassy Speaker's Bureau Program, Jon Selle spoke to a group of about 160 physical education teachers from throughout Poland. The presentation was the first part of a teacher's conference specifically oriented toward physical education activities. Selle presented how physical education activities are programmed in the United States from Kindergarten through High School. He also specifically talked at some length on the participation of students in after-school sports activities affiliated with schools. The presentation was particularly interesting for the teachers as they were able to compare the US system with Poland. The presentation lasted for 40 minutes and a 20 minute question/answer period followed. The teachers asked a wide array of questions relating to sports and physical education related activities in the US. In addition to the presentation, each participant of the conference received the Department of State publication "Sports in America."

This was an excellent opportunity to present educational issues, specifically related to health and fitness, to a group of Polish physical education teachers. The teachers were engaged and asked many questions relating to sports related activities in the United States. It was also an outstanding opportunity for the Embassy to participate in an event organized by the Polish Olympic Committee.
