New Embassy Speakers Bureau programs announced for 2009!
The U.S. Embassy Warsaw Speakers Bureau is excited to announce three major topics for 2009. Diplomats from the U.S. Embassy are available to speak on the following subjects:
Celebrating 90 Years of Polish-American Diplomatic Relations
In 2009, the Embassy will mark the 90th anniversary of Polish-American diplomatic relations with various cultural and educational events in 2009. Speakers Bureau joins the celebrations by offering presentations on the history of relations and current bilateral issues in cultural, historical, and political contexts. They are available to speak to high-school and university students as well as other interested audiences all over Poland and to engage them in a discussion about what diplomacy means to them.
EducationUSA: Opportunities for study in the United States
Speakers will be available to talk about the various opportunities there are for study in the United States, ranging from elite public and private universities to community colleges, including information about scholarship opportunities.
Zapraszamy: Visas, work, and travel in the U.S.
Embassy consular officers are available to talk about U.S. visas and answer questions about visa policy and application procedures for both tourist and student visas. They also invite young people to visit the United States and encourage them to experience the country first-hand by participating in the Summer Work & Travel program.
Additionally, Embassy Speakers are happy to talk on a variety of subjects related to American politics (including the 2008 elections), culture (including music and visual arts), society (for example, diversity and multiculturalism), and other aspects of American life. We can also provide expert speakers on specific policy topics, ranging from international security to economic policy, from various sections of the embassy.
We particularly welcome opportunities to engage in conferences, discussions, Q&A sessions, and other formats that allow for an exchange of ideas between American diplomats and Polish audiences. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your suggestions if you have a topic or event that you would like a speaker for! Speakers Bureau Coordinator: DzielakMK@state.gov
The themes of speeches and presentations vary from American culture, sports, history, and traditions to economics, foreign policy, and U.S. international relations. For many audiences, the most important aspect is having personal contact with an American Diplomat. The Embassy Speakers Bureau is also looking for opportunities to speak at a wide range of venues -- from middle schools and high schools to university student groups. We are also interested in attending various conferences and cultural events around Poland. We can also schedule officers to participate in the “Read with the Embassy” program in primary schools and do press interviews with local print and electronic news journals.
Please note that the American speaker’s trip will be arranged and paid for by the Speakers Bureau. We are responsible for the logistics of the trip such as booking tickets, providing transportation, and making hotel reservations as well as the organizational aspect of the Speaker’s visit at your venue. We welcome your suggestions concerning a preferable topic of the speech and points for discussion, as usually our Speakers are willing to be engaged in a question and answer session after their presentation. As we develop a detailed schedule, we also appreciate contact information and travel directions to the city or venue the Speaker is going to visit.
The coordinator of the program is Małgorzata Dziełak, and is available via e-mail at dzielakmk@state.gov or telephone: (22) 504 23 86. Contact us if you are interested in requesting a speaker from the Embassy Speakers Bureau for your upcoming event.
