Ambassador Ashe speaks on security issues to young diplomats

U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ashe, spoke to the 6th Session of the Academy of Young Diplomats on May 10, 2008. Organized annually by the Forum of Young Diplomats, this year's academy focused on internal and external security and discussed workshops focused on many different aspects of international cooperation. Ambassador Ashe addressed the group during the final session of the event presenting U.S. security policy during a presentation titled "Recent developments in assuring world security – an American persective." In his speech, Ashe also touched on the recent developments in the missile defense program negotiations between the Polish and U.S. governments. He answered questions from the group mostly made up of graduate students in international relations on NATO, transatlantic relations, U.S. relations with Russia, and projected future changes to U.S. military strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan. After the session, the U.S. Embassy also hosted an American Day reception for the participants.
