On March 14, 2008, Deputy Cultural Attaché Hilary Renner spoke to about 250 students in Koszalin on the U.S. system of education. Renner was the first diplomat to visit High School No.1 in Koszalin as part of the Embassy Speakers Bureau Program. Renner also discussed the educational opportunities that the U.S. provides for both undergraduate, post-graduate, and graduate study. High School No. 1 has 800 students who learn English at the intermediate and advanced level. The school organizes an "English Day," a cultural and educational event in which participating students work on various projects on the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. This event was also covered by local print and television media.
