On January 23, General Supervisors Officer Dean Hobson, spoke to two groups of junior high-school students from Lodz and Pabianice in American Corner in Lodz. He presented the story of Martin Luther King to highlight his achievements and efforts during the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. of the 1960s. Dean Hobson also showed the audiences the influence African-Americans have had on American culture, politics and history in shaping U.S. multicultural society. Besides asking questions to the Embassy speaker, both groups also prepared presentations about Human Rights and powerful African-Americans such as Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell to discuss the importance and place of Afro-Americans on the U.S. political stage. Dean Hobson’s speaking event was part of the Embassy’s Speakers Bureau Program to celebrate February as Black History Month.
