Press Attaché James Wolfe represented the Embassy as honorary guest and patron at the finals of the 3rd Regional Festival of English Poetry and Song for students on June 9, 2009 in Gdansk.  Jim Wolfe congratulated the winners and presented them with the Embassy Frisbees to show the fun aspect of American culture to the kids in this popular form of U.S. leisure time.
The organizers invited local media Gazeta Wyborcza local issue, Baltycki Daily and Gdansk TV to cover the finals.

The competition is organized annually by High-School No. 2 in Gdansk to to provide an opportunity for elementary and secondary school students from the Pomeranian region to present their talents, skills, exchange experience and popularize the interest in the English-speaking culture of the United States and Great Britain. The Festival is carried out in three age categories, ranging from 6-15 years of contestants’ age. This year’s edition enrolled 300 candidates across the region for the Festival’s school preliminaries.
The Regional Festival of English Poetry and Song in Gdansk was first organized in 2007 by the teachers of STO School No. 2 in Gdansk with the support of the Baltic Culture Center and sponsored by POLANGLO books distributor and GDANSK 2016 Metropolis initiative. Two last editions of the Festival gained wide response among other schools in the region and inspired them to initiate similar projects and events in their regions.
