Consul Karin King speaks about Political Correctness to T.E.Sokrates foreign language school

On January 26, Non-Immigrant Visas Chief Karin King spoke to nearly forty teachers and students from ‘T.E. Sokrates’ foreign language school in Kabaty, Warsaw, about the influence of political correctness on contemporary English language usage in the United States.  NIV Chief King discussed the definition of ‘political correctness’ from various political, news, and literary contexts and provided the historical roots of the concept, which dates back to the 1960s and 1970s. King gave examples of politically correct contemporary English language and outlined its influence on contemporary cultural, ethnic, social and political relationships in the U.S. After the presentation, Karin King answered questions about her personal opinion of how political correctness, especially in its interrelation with the English language, impacts social, cultural and customs related attitude to women, representatives of different races and adherents of different religions.
