U.S. Embassy brings American Culture to the "100 Cultures, 1 City" event in Warsaw

On Sunday, April 15th, the Embassy Warsaw participated in the “100 Cultures, 1 City” festival at the Palace of Culture in Warsaw. The cultural fair was developed by the AIESEC Warsaw University student association to expose Warsaw inhabitants to cultural diversity as it is manifested in a variety of cultural contexts and forms, such as dance, music, cuisine, film, travel or exchange programs. The organizers created a global village in the Palace of Culture where visitors could meet with embassy representatives of a given country or with members of cultural associations, and take part in dance or drum workshops, taste local cuisine, or learn about a country from how it was presented in its festival booth.

The American stand promoted U.S. culture, society, history, and geography through books, albums and other materials and contained information materials on Embassy programs such as the Speakers Bureau, America Presents Meet America, and the Summer Work and Travel Program. Consular Officers Andrea Gorog, Chris Snipes and Will Webb informed the visitors about the Summer Work and Travel Program and answered questions concerning studying and working in the U.S. as well as visa issues. ACAO Hilary Renner spoke to the crowd about educational opportunities and exchange programs, and promoted the Embassy programs as well. By displaying a range of different U.S. Embassy publications, booklets and albums on U.S. culture, society, history and geography the American stand showed cultural diversity of the country and provided comprehensive information about its characteristics.
