Warsaw DCM Hillas discusses the status of transatlantic relations

On June 9, 2007, DCM Kenneth Hillas participated in a panel entitled “Transatlantic Relations – New Opportunities and Prospects for Cooperation” at the third annual conference of the Academy of Young Diplomats made up of representatives of the best universities and academic institutions from all over Poland, future diplomats, and foreign service and civil service officers. The panelists which included Hillas, Hubert Knirsch, Political Section Chief of the German Embassy, and Andrzej Olechowski, Former Polish Foreign Affairs Minister, made short statements about their view of transatlantic relations.  During the session, Hillas discussed how the relationship between the U.S. and the E.U was more about working together globally and less about Europe and was asked questions about the upcoming visit of President Bush to Poland, visas, missile defense, natural gas security, and U.S.-Polish political relations.
