Amb. Victor Ashe paid tribute to Polish-American architect Jerzy Staniszkis at the opening of Staniszkis's exhibit at the headquarters of the Polish Architects' Association (SARP) on Tuesday November 23rd.

In his remarks for the occasion, Amb. Ashe highlighted Staniszkis's contributions not just to art and architecture on both sides of the Atlantic, but to his contributions to mutual understanding between nations.

He noted particularly the exchange program between the University of Detroit and Warszaw Politechnic that Staniszkis initiated while Poland was still under a communist government.

This program still continues to this date. Coincidentally the exhibit opened on Mr. Staniszki's 90th birthday and will be on display at SARP until December 5, 2004.
