First General Assembly of the Alumni Association

On June 26 the Alumni Association organized its first General Assembly which is required by its statute. The assembly was held in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in Warsaw. During the meeting members voted to introduce some changes to the statute so that it's more flexible as well as discussed their goals and ideas for programs for the next year in advance. After the meeting ended all members were offered a tour by the Director of the Museum of its latest exhibition, Awkward Objects: Alina Szapocznikow, Maria Bartuszova, Pauline Boty, Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse and Paulina Ołowska, which showed how these female artist-pioneers sought recognition from the artistic mainstream of their time.

The General Assembly was opened by Jacek Nieckuła, President of the Board of the Alumni Association, who welcomed twenty five members present at the Assembly and presented a report of the Association's activity in the last year. Eighty nine members were registered as participants in the Assembly, the numebr inlcuded 69 members who submitted their permission to be represented in voting by the participants present at the Assembly.
The Assembly was presided by Andrzej Piotrowski, unanimously voted for this function, and Beata Jajko was chosen Secretary of the General Assembly. Both alumni are representatives of the Steering Committee in the Alumni Association.

The General Assembly unanimously made resoultion to change some fragments of the Alumni Association Statute which will improve the association's activity and decision making process.
President Nieckuła also informed the members about the grant "American Inspirations" generated by Member of the Board Piotr Adamski which was submitted to the Department of State.
Member of the Board Michał Niezabitowski introduced an idea of creating theme sections for the members to share their experiences and satisfy a variety of interests and professional backgrounds manifested by the Alumni Association members. Member Jacek Głusz made a proposition of organizing regional meetings which would indicate local leaders among the association members.
After the meeting Member Marcel Andino-Velez, Director of the Museum of Modern Art, offered a guided tour for the exhibition "Awkward Objects" currently on display in the museum which features works by Alina Szapocznikow, Maria Bursztova, Paulibe Boty,  Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse and Paulina Ołowska.
