Country Attaché (CA) Tomaszewski graduated from the State University College at Buffalo, New York in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. After graduation, CA Tomaszewski worked for the Immigration and Naturalization Service as an Immigration Officer stationed in Toronto, Canada. In 1981, CA Tomaszewski was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and served on active duty for six years as a Navigator on C130 aircraft. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in July 2003 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
CA Tomaszewski started his career with the Drug Enforcement Administration in April, 1987. He was stationed in Baltimore, Maryland where he worked in the Heroin Task Force concentrating on international heroin traffickers operating in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area. While in Baltimore, CA Tomaszewski also served as the Firearms Training Officer, the Tactical Training Officer, and the Public Information Officer.
In 1997, CA Tomaszewski was promoted to A GS 14 Group Supervisor and became the DEA Coordinator for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) for the Mid-Atlantic Region. In this position he coordinated numerous inter-agency drug investigations and managed an extensive budget covering a five-state area. After this assignment, CA Tomaszewski supervised the Heroin Task Force which was comprised of Baltimore City Police Detectives and DEA Agents focusing on major heroin traffickers operating in the Baltimore area.
In November 2000, CA Tomaszewski was assigned to DEA Headquarters to the Office of Congressional Affairs where he assisted in preparing for Congressional hearings and answering Congressional inquiries regarding DEA related issues. After an assignment in DEA’s Tactical Enforcement Section, CA Tomaszewski was selected as the Country Attaché of the Berlin, Germany Country Office in December, 2003. Earlier this year he was assigned to open the new Warsaw, Poland Country Office for DEA.
CA Tomaszewski is accompanied in Poland by his wife Michelle and two sons.
