U.S. Army "Soldiers of Swing" come to Poland

6 February 2006
The Soldiers of Swing

The Soldiers of Swing at the Umbria Jazz Festival

The U.S. Army Europe “Soldiers of Swing”, under the direction of Sergeant First Class William King, will play in Swidnica at “Klub Bolko” on February 15 and in Katowice at “Szopienice-Giszowiec” on February 22. The United States Army Band and Chorus in Europe is the Army’s third largest musical organization and the largest outside of the United States. The “Soldiers of Swing” carry on the jazz legacy pioneered by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and other legends of the Big Band Era. They represent one small outreach tool offered by the U.S. Military to the citizens of Europe to appreciate one of the United State’s greatest cultural institutions.
