Deputy Chief of Mission Hillas Attends U.S.-Polish Bilateral Military Training Exercise

On December 6, a U.S. Embassy delegation lead by Deputy Chief of Mission Kenneth M. Hillas attended the U.S.-Polish bilateral military training exercise Euphrates (EUFRAT) VIII, conducted by the Polish II Mechanized Corps in Zagan, Poland. The exercise marks the eighth time the U.S. and Poland have cooperated prior to each Polish-led Multinational Division Center South rotation to Iraq. The EUFRAT VIII exercise, was directed by Lieutenant General Bieniek, and led by the commander of the 11 Armored Cavalry Division, Major General Lamla. The 11th division will send a contingent of approximately 900 Polish soldiers that will deploy to Iraq in January 2007. The United States participation in EUFRAT VIII consisted of members of the 1-4 Infantry based at Hohenfels, Germany.
