Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz took the oath of office at noon on Saturday, December 2 as the new President (mayor) of Warsaw at a brief ceremony at the Palace of Science and Culture. It was a historic occasion, as Ms. Gronkiewicz-Waltz is the first woman ever elected to the position. U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe attended the ceremony and personally extended congratulations on behalf of the U.S. Government to Ms. Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
