A group of 31 high school students from Wloclawek, Poland visited the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw on November 20 for a Meet America presentation led by U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe. Ambassador Ashe spoke about the importance of enhancing U.S.-Polish relations through Embassy programs such as Meet America. Economic Officer Holly Waeger Monster spoke about the historical origin of Thanksgiving and how Americans currently celebrate the holiday. Consular Officer Justin Heung presented the concept of an American family, providing statistics and common views about modern American families. Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer Hilary Renner spoke about educational opportunities in the U.S. and the Summer Work and Travel program as an opportunity for college students to improve English language skills and learn about U.S. society and culture through firsthand experience.
