19 February 2004

Embassy Launches New Monthly Publication for Young People The U.S. Embassy in Warsaw and Consulate General in Krakow are proud to introduce "ZOOM in on America," a publication for English students and teachers or anyone interested in learning more about the United States. "ZOOM" is published monthly and each issue focuses on a single issue. Upcoming topics may include: - U.S. elections - Sports in America - New York City and its people - U.S. - E.U. relations Since February is Black History Month in the United States, the first issue of "ZOOM" showcases African-Americans and their history. Each issue contains cultural or historic information to put the topic in context. Personality profiles, statistics, interesting facts and useful websites are also a part of the publication. On the last page, English-language students will find a monthly quiz, helpful for remembering some of the words related to the particular topic. Each issue of "ZOOM" also features a drawing for great prizes. "ZOOM" is ideal for English teachers who need creative tools to promote lively discussions on timely topics. "ZOOM" is available on line at www.usinfo.pl. Free subscriptions are also available in the "pdf" format. Just contact us at media@pd.state.gov, and let us know the name and e-mail address to which you'd like your subscription sent. "ZOOM" in on the first issue here.
